This has already been posted on the ecf board for everyone, but for those who haven't gone onto ecf, this will all be new to you. This is compilation of all the tests I've done of the past year for Vapor4Life. Included are the dates the tests were done, know it's a lot to take in, but...

Shorty Bargin bin voltages 4/29/11 (which the standard shorties mirror pretty well in my unposted tests):

I tested two of them early this morning using a wow carto at 2.2ohm as to give a direct comparison to the king diamond series shorties. Same method applied of chain vaping and checking every 9 minutes, directly after being taken off the charger...

Shorty #1
4.2 (at start), 4.18 (9min), 4.16 (18min), 4.13 (27min), 4.08 (36min), 4.01 (45min), 3.97 (54min), 3.92 (63min), 3.86 (72min), 3.81 (81min), 3.77 (90min), 3.72 (99min), 3.66 (108min), 1 minute later needed to be recharged afterwards

Shorty #2

Manual regular sized voltages from 5/6/11:

These tests were done with wow carts at 2.2ohm and cool carts at 3.3ohm. They were chain vaped fresh off the charger. I used the two newest manuals I own for these tests (one recharged 3 times, the other 4).

King Diamond v2 purple led voltage difference from 6/11/11:
Did these tests again with a 2.2ohm wow carto, fresh off the charger. Will list it's starter voltage (max 4 charges old on each), followed by their current voltage numbers. These are the 4 shorties that are being used heavily to see their lifespan potential... Two are stealths, 2 are kd's:

King Diamonds:

Shorty #1
4.2 at start (as), 4.2 (9min in), 4.18 (18min), 4.18 (27min), 4.16 (36min), 4.10 (45min), 4.05 (54min), 4.03 (63min), 4.02 (72min), 4.0 (81min), 3.98 (90min), 3.97 (99min), 3.94 (108min), 3.88 (117min), 3.73 (126min), 2 minutes later flash city

Shorty #1 (after 77 charges)
4.2 (as), 4.2 (9min in), 4.19 (18min), 4.17 (27min), 4.16 (36min), 4.09 (45min), 4.04 (54min), 4.03 (63min), 4.02 (72min), 4.0 (81min), 3.99 (90min), 3.95 (99min), 3.93 (108min), 3.87 (117min), 3.71 (126min), 1 minute later recharge time

Shorty #2
4.2 (as), 4.2 (9min in), 4.2 (18min), 4.18 (27min), 4.14 (36min), 4.11 (45min), 4.02 (54min), 4.01 (63min), 4.0 (72min), 3.97 (81min), 3.95 (90min), 3.91 (99min), 3.89 (108min), 3.86 (117min), 6 minutes later flashes (only deep cycle the batt ever had, for the orginal test).

Shorty #2 (after 81 charges)
4.2 (as), 4.2 (9min in), 4.19 (18min), 4.18 (27min), 4.15 (36min), 4.12 (45min), 4.03 (54min), 4.0 (63min), 4.0 (72min), 3.98 (81min), 3.94 (90min), 3.90 (99min), 3.88 (108min), 3.86 (117min), 5 minutes later major vapor decrease, recharged.

As we can see on the kd's, no major diffrences yet on both length of time or amount of voltage save a minimal flux.

No major changes, though the second batt had better numbers this time around using the new slim charger. Will be doing a second test on it in a few days seeing if this was an anomaly or if not deep cycling and using the slim line charger really makes (however slight) a difference.

Charging times comparison from 7/1/11:

Did this test using king diamond batts, one shorty, one regular, one xl. Watched the chargers as best as I could to get the most accurate times possible. Had them by me constantly watching for light changes.

Shorty charge times:

USB- 78min
Old School (OS) wall charger- 83min
Slim Line (SL) wall charger- 67min

Regular:

USB- 123min
OS- 126min
SL- 97min

XL:

USB- 168min
OS- 171min
SL- 139min

Roughly 19-21% faster overall than the old chargers. What I found odd was even with it having a lower mah output, they still delivered the promised 20% gain. My only complaints with it are the coloring (prefer it was in black, white screams apple product, a big boo for we mac haters out there), and if you already own a good amount of the old chargers and have plenty of spare batts, then there's not much need as of yet to make the switch. Hopefully we'll see this newer charger technology migrate to the usb chargers sometime soon....

A brief example of how many charges regular manuals last from 6/5/11:

A few months ago decided to do a study on just how many recharges you can potentially
get out of them. Still keeping track of every charge on each batt, but designated 4 for heavy use. These batts were charged at least 3 times a day (I'm a very heavy vaper incase no one could tell). Orginally it was 6 batts, but 2 failed due to switch issues so their results can't be included. I'm including Anakin (RIP) as my control group. He was subjected to all types of cycling, so a good water mark for what most people would put their batts through. All batts were manual in regular size, and used wow cartos exclusively on them. Stopped once their run time was below 10 minutes (most people would have stopped long before that, but well....).

Anakin-263 charges

Group 1

This group was deep cycled every time (in other words only recharged upon flashing). One batt was a purple with blue led, the other a gun metal platinum with green led. PB and GG for short.

PB- 212 recharges, by charge number 176 he only would last 2/3 of his previous average (128min vs. 195min), and the last 5 charges were 66min, 51min, 33min, 21min, and 9:30.

GG- 207 total, by charge 164 saw a 60% drop in time (115min vs. 193min), and the last 5 charges were plain abysmal. They were 51min, 39min, 22 min, 13min, and just under 7 minutes...

Group 2

These were never deep cycled, recharged them as soon as I noticed a lack in vapor production. The first one is a chrome with blue led (CB), and the second was a bronze with blue led (BB).

CB- 319 charges. It wasn't until charge number 245 that she lost some time, and it was only 80% (150min vs 188min). It was a dramatic drop off at the end though (which seems to be the way every batt that has died on me for non-switch related issues does). The final 5 times were 61min, 47min, 31min, 19min, and finally 9 min.

BB- 324 charges. This was my longest lasting batt to date. She was a trooper until charge 276, when she lost around 75% of her average time (147min vs. 197min). Her last 5 were 66min, 52min, 38min, 22min, and 8 min on the final go round.

As more batts die will post their final run times and length. What we can see though is a huge gap in lifespan when it comes to deep cycling to recharging before it's dead.

8/12/11 update:

Well, just finished another test. Sadly, one of the shorty stealths is no longer holding it's charge like it used to. It's final numbers are as follows:

Shorty #1 (after 241 charges)
4.2 (as), 4.19 (9min in), 4.16 (18min), 4.13 (27min), 4.10 (36min), 4.05 (45min), 4.0 (54min), 3.97 (63min), 3.91 (72min), 3.82 (81min), 3.74 (90min), after a few puffs nothing.

This was the one that was constantly deep cycled. He did a great job until about 3 charges ago when he started dramatically losing his hold. 237 charges though is a very good life, and for most that should be a good 4-6 months of use barring a juice incident...

Which brings me to part two. How much juice does it take to kill the switch on these? A little while ago someone sent me a batt that had been killed by juice not going into the switch at all, but building up around the outside of the post. It affected the negative terminal to a point it shorted out the battery. This was a v1 king diamond batt, and the switch functions perfectly, but it will not transfer voltage to the post due to this. So again we see another problem with using the condom fill method on these batteries. I'm trying to get pics up, but sadly I'm once again having issues. Will post them as soon as I can.

This battery (shorty #1) was used to figure out just how much juice is needed to kill the switch itself. The exact measurement was .02ml's, equal to the average sized drop for most people. It didn't kill it at first, it worked for about 30 minutes, then it was intermittent firing that no use of the switch reset method would fix. Sad part is, even less than that could possibly it kill it. When the king diamond shorty #1 starts to die, will put even less into it, then place it on the charger. Myself and Snow sir have a feeling that the heat generated by the charging batt could be enough to caramelize the juice on the switch thus rendering it useless as well. Will be testing that theory soon.

9-4-11 update:
King Diamond shorty #1 passed on during the hurricane. He made it to 247 charges. His final numbers were:

4.2 (as), 4.19 (9min in), 4.17 (18min), 4.16 (27min), 4.10 (36min), 4.02 (45min), 3.97 (54min), 3.93 (63min), 3.89 (72min), 3.81 (81min), 3.71 (90min), got no vapor after that.

Recharged him one more time after that though, because he too was to be donated to science. I put .01ml of juice into the center hole of the post. Switch still functioned after that. Vaped it for 60 minutes, then placed him back on the charger and left him there for 8 hours. The heat from charging it was enough to caramelize the juice in the switch itself, thus rendering it useless. So once again more reason to be careful when refilling with autos. Even a minute amount of juice can kill the switch, even if it's not right away.

Would like to SnowDragon sir credit for helping with this test. Our brainstorming session lead to it.

10-21-11 update

All 4 batts are now dead. The ones deep cycled made it 241 and 247 before losing their ability to hold a charge. Here's a recap of all of them, and what point each battery dropped to the 90 minute range:

As stated before, used a 2.2ohm wow carto as usual on these tests, and it was a mix of each type of charger.

That's a difference of 71 charges by stopping 9 minutes before the end of charge on a battery. Once again we see the benefit of avoiding deep cycling the batts.

On the stealth batts that was a difference of 90 charges by avoiding deep cycling. These batts which still funtioned were then subjected to some other tests which I'll post the info on soon in a new thread. The main thing to remember though, is if you want to get the longest amount of life out of your batts, charge them before they're dead. Hope this helps.

Have more to add, but this 10,000 character limit is killing me. Besides there's enough here to digest already. Know it seems like a lot, but... Hope this helps. :)

Please, some plain English for sorta newbie me: Deep cycling means what exactly, and is it bad for the battery and shortens it's life? I tend to put mine on charge at night and have all 3 of the type chargers you mention in use. Am I to understand that I should not do that? Obviously, I want my battery to live as long as possible, as they are darn expensive.
Not tried the King Diamond (cost again) but I do have a regular auto stealth, and a variety of auto AND manual regular batts in various colors. I never fill with condom method, only drip or syringe, and do not over fill. I have had a LOT of issues with nearly ALL my batteries, and then I find this forum, and see ways to "fix" problems. I am wondering why Vapor4Life, when I submit a ticket for return, does not mention things to try. The only thing they have had me ever try was some fine sandpaper when my cart would not thread.
You sound like a knowledgeable ( though techie '-) person, so maybe you can tell me why a short manual battery, brand new, only draws air and does not vape, but does light up? I am tired of the post office runs.....

Ms. Sherri deep cycling is where you run a battery to the end of it's charge. Leaving a battery on overnight won't hurt it as long as it's not on the usb charger and less than 12 hours. Always tell people to get the slim line charger, it's the fastest and safest against overcharge of the three they sell. As for your battery that is lighting up but not producing any vapor, have you tried adjusting the post? If you screw a carto on too tight or into the charger too vigorously you can push it down. You can use a paper clip or a safety pin and the like to gently pry the post back up. There's a great how to video on ecf with how to do it, once I'm back on the computer can post the link for you. Hope this helps.
